Medicare-Covered Acupuncture for Chronic Low Back Pain in Natick, MA
In 2020, Medicare Part B began covering acupuncture for people with chronic low back pain, the first time Medicare has covered acupuncture for any condition. At PK Health & Wellness, we've built our acupuncture program around this benefit, pairing physician oversight with licensed acupuncture care so Natick-area Medicare patients can access this treatment with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Medicare cover acupuncture for other conditions, like neck pain or migraines?
No. Under current rules, Original Medicare Part B covers acupuncture only for chronic low back pain. Coverage for other conditions may be available through some Medicare Advantage plans - check with your plan directly.
Will I owe anything out of pocket?
Medicare Part B acupuncture is generally subject to your standard Part B deductible and 20% coinsurance, like most Part B services. Our front desk can help verify your specific benefits before your visit.
Do I need a referral?
Medicare doesn't require a separate referral for this benefit, but treatment must be supervised by a physician which Dr. Torres provides on-site at PK Health & Wellness.
How is this different from regular acupuncture at PK?
The treatment itself is similar, but Medicare-covered visits follow specific documentation and physician-supervision requirements set by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
What if I don't qualify under Medicare's rules?
You can still receive acupuncture as a self-pay or privately insured service see our general Acupuncture page.
